Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
